PUTRAJAYA – The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) will give licensed tourism operators and tour guides a compound payment discount of up to 40%.
In a statement today, Motac also said the compound payment period has been extended until June 30 next year for all compounds issued to these operators and guides.
“The ministry hopes that this initiative can help ease the burden of industry players affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement said.
It also said the flexibility on compound-related matters granted to licensed tour operators and guides is under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 [Act 482].
“Nevertheless, failure to settle the compounds issued could result in action being taken against the relevant companies or tour guides,” the statement said. – Bernama, December 24, 2020
