FOUR teenagers linked to two separate bullying incidents last month are expected to be charged at the Sungai Petani Magistrates’ Court today, according to Kuala Muda District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan.
He said the suspects had previously been questioned by police and released on bail, pending the decision to proceed with charges.
“One bullying case will be charged under Section 323 and Section 342 of the Penal Code, while the second case will proceed under Section 323,” Hanyan said in a statement on Tuesday.
The first incident, which occurred on 14 July, involved a Form One student who was allegedly assaulted out of jealousy by two of her schoolmates. The 13-year-old girl was found bound hand and foot with a necktie, with a handkerchief tied over her mouth.
Her mother discovered the incident when the girl failed to appear at the school gate around 6.30pm. With the help of a security guard, the mother found her daughter in the school toilet in a distressed state.
Following the report, two female students were identified and their statements were recorded by investigators.
In the second case, dated 21 July, two male Form Three students allegedly punched a classmate during school hours.
The incident came to light when a teacher contacted the victim’s father at 12.30pm, asking him to collect his son from school.
All four suspects are expected to face formal charges in court today. - August 13, 2025
