MORE than 40 vehicles including motorcycles were destroyed in a fire at a tyre workshop in Section 24 in Shah Alam, Selangor, last night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said that in the incident, a local man in his 30s, who was a workshop worker there, was slightly injured.

Earlier, his department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.31pm, before a team of officers and personnel from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) and the Bukit Jelutong BBP rushed to the location.

“The operations commander reported a fire involving a tyre workshop covering an area of ​​5,000 square feet.

"It is estimated that 90 percent of the premises was burnt, involving the building structure, 37 different types of cars and seven motorcycles," he said in a statement.

He said there were no victims in the premises at the time of the fire and only one workshop worker suffered burns on his hand while trying to move a vehicle.

He said the victim was given initial treatment by members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMRS) Unit and sent to hospital by his family and is reported to be stable.

"The fire was successfully brought under control at 12.26 am and the operation ended at 2.31 am today," he said. - August 25, 2025
