BARISAN Nasional (BN) Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today advised the MIC leadership to use the BN Supreme Council as a forum to express their views or dissatisfactions with the coalition.
He said the party leadership should not take the shortcut of issuing statements outside the BN Supreme Council for fear of being misunderstood.
He stressed that MIC needs to remain in the BN coalition because it has worked together to develop the country since before independence.
"If you have an opinion, tell me... don't keep your feelings bottled up in meetings but talk about other things outside, that's not good. Such actions and statements can affect harmony within BN.
"If you have any wishes, please submit them to the BN Supreme Council platform which has been a forum for all coalition parties within BN including Umno and MCA.
"We shouldn't talk outside, because sometimes it can be misunderstood ... so it would be better for leaders of the component parties to meet and discuss through the BN Supreme Council.
"That's better than us talking outside or expressing views that ultimately have a negative impact on our own party," he said.
Mohamad, who is also Umno Deputy President, was met by the media after officiating the 2025 Independence Carnival in Seremban, today.
The Foreign Minister was commenting on statements by several MIC leaders that hinted that the party intended to leave the BN coalition.
It is understood that three MIC state liaison bodies passed a resolution to leave BN. - September 6, 2025
