ANGKATAN Muda Keadilan (AMK or the PKR Youth Wing) has filed two police reports after a video went viral showing a man making a death threat against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a controversial eviction operation at Kampung Sungai Baru.
Mohammad Rais Hamda, Information Chief of AMK Kuala Lumpur, said the reports were lodged by both AMK Kuala Lumpur and AMK Selangor at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters at 8pm.
“Young people condemn in the strongest terms such death threats, which jeopardise the harmony that this nation has long cultivated,” he told reporters following the report submission, flanked by Deputy Information Chief of AMK Selangor, Abdullah Zaid Abdullah Sani, along with fellow AMK members.
The video, widely circulated on TikTok, depicts a man issuing threats against the Prime Minister while alleging that he had previously been detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Deputy Chief of Dang Wangi Police, Superintendent Nuzulan Mohd Din, confirmed receiving the reports, adding that the case will be investigated by Bukit Aman’s Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT).
The threats emerged during the enforcement of an eviction order affecting 37 homes in the contested Kampung Sungai Baru area, which has been a flashpoint in disputes over development and residents' rights.
Meanwhile, Anwar confirmed that he has accepted an invitation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on 15 September.
He said the meeting, convened at the Emir’s initiative, would gather Muslim leaders to address the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza following a recent escalation in Israeli military attacks.
“I received the invitation this morning for the emergency meeting of Islamic heads of state in Doha. The Emir of Qatar has requested my attendance. If the schedule holds for the 15th, I will likely attend, although I must be back in Malaysia on the 16th for Malaysia Day,” Anwar said during a session with the PKR leadership council.
He stressed that the summit aims to formulate a response to Israel’s latest offensive, which has seen a spike in air and ground assaults against Palestinians.
Addressing criticism over Malaysia’s stance on Gaza, Anwar reaffirmed that the nation’s position is grounded in universal humanitarian values.
“Regardless of our religion or culture, we must prioritise humanity. Do not speak of civilisation, progress, race or faith if we can turn a blind eye to children being killed and homes destroyed,” he said.
“Let Malaysia be an example of compassion and mercy. We may be a developing country, but we do what we can, to the best of our ability.”
According to international reports, the summit follows an Israeli airstrike on Doha last Tuesday, allegedly targeting senior Hamas figures during a meeting on a potential US-backed Gaza ceasefire proposal.
The attack in Leqtaifiya reportedly involved some 15 Israeli fighter jets, resulting in six fatalities, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, his office director, and a Qatari security official. Key Hamas figures are believed to have survived. - September 12, 2025
