THE Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) Intelligence Unit has arrested three men following the carcass of a tiger was found in their vehicle this morning in Kuala Lumpur.

The three suspects were arrested after failing to produce any special permits to possess or keep the carcass of the protected animal.

FRU Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner Rosli Md Yusof said the raid through the Khazanah Integrated Operation was carried out by his party in Felda Tenggaroh, Mersing in collaboration with the Johor Wildlife and National Parks Department (PERHILITAN).

Acting on public information, the FRU intelligence team inspected a car and found the carcass of the tiger believed to have been illegally hunted.

Three men aged between 28 and 49 were later detained for investigation.

Inspections found that the tiger suffered serious injuries believed to have been caused by a snare and six gunshot wounds to the head.

The FRU then seized the tiger's carcass, a car and four mobile phones, all estimated to be worth almost RM294,000.

All arrests and seizures were taken to the Mersing District Police Headquarters for documentation.

The three suspects are now being detained by the Johor PERHILITAN for further action.

The investigation is being conducted under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 710).  – September 16, 2025
