THE Government’s MySARA programme continues to provide essential relief to low-income groups while maintaining price stability and market integrity, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Senator Datuk Dr Hajah Fuziah Salleh said today.
Speaking after leading enforcement and advocacy operations across several business premises in Sabah that participate in the Sumbangan Asas RAHMAH (MySARA) initiative, Fuziah reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance stance against mismanagement or abuse of aid schemes.
“This inspection aims to ensure that all participating premises comply with the MySARA guidelines and the relevant laws under our ministry. It is crucial that the B40 community receives the full benefit of this aid without any form of leakage,” she said.
Fuziah noted that regular checks on MySARA premises have shown no increase in prices for subsidised goods, and that supplies remain consistently adequate across the state. As of 18 September, Sabah hosts 701 registered MySARA outlets, including 154 in Kota Kinabalu alone.
MySARA, a cashless assistance programme delivered through MyKad, provides basic necessities to targeted groups. Under the initiative, households listed under eKasih may receive up to RM2,100 annually, senior citizens up to RM1,650, and single individuals RM600. Newly eligible recipients receive RM900 (households) and RM450 (senior citizens) per year.
“The MySARA programme reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensure that essential needs are met and that aid reaches its intended recipients without exception,” said Fuziah.
In addition, following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 23 July 2025, a one-off RM100 cashless assistance was disbursed to all citizens aged 18 and above. This aid, accessible via MyKad, can be used between 31 August and 31 December 2025 at over 7,900 participating retailers nationwide.
Fuziah stressed that the Ministry will continue to enhance monitoring and enforcement measures. Any unjustified price hikes, particularly involving essential goods, will trigger the issuance of notices under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
“This is a clear indication of the government’s resolve in protecting those most affected by the cost of living,” she said. “The Madani government remains dedicated to safeguarding consumer rights, market fairness and the people’s welfare through initiatives like MySARA.”
