KUALA LUMPUR – Police’s Integrity and Compliance Standards Department (JIPS) has received many complaints from the public on officers not discharging their responsibilities despite reports lodged.
Bukit Aman JIPS director Datuk Zamri Yahya said the cases where it is alleged that action has not been taken include those against drug-trafficking and gambling syndicates.
He told Bernama that there are complaints on police chiefs not taking action over reports lodged and allowing crime to happen in areas under their watch.
There are also claims of district police chiefs conspiring with drug-trafficking and gambling syndicates, and getting rewarded for this, he said, “but when we checked, no reports were lodged in the affected areas”.
The issue of misconduct and integrity among members of the force continues to be raised by the public, despite the various disciplinary actions taken against offenders since 1986, he said.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Razarudin Husain said police will not compromise with any personnel who associate themselves with drug syndicates.
“I cannot deny that there are policemen involved in selling ketum... we have received a report on this matter, and the individuals concerned will be charged in court.” – Bernama, December 27, 2020
