PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the MADANI Government’s fourth federal budget, to be tabled this afternoon, as more than a financial statement — calling it a “strategic direction” to continue aiding the people while safeguarding national fiscal health.

“This is not just about numbers and expenditure. It is a direction to ensure the government continues to help the rakyat without adding to the national debt burden,” Anwar said in a Facebook post ahead of the Budget 2026 presentation.

Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, will deliver the budget speech in the Dewan Rakyat at 4pm today. This marks the fourth budget under his leadership and the first under the 13th Malaysia Plan, making it a foundation document for the country’s next five-year development strategy.

In a pre-budget briefing to senior media editors in Putrajaya on Wednesday, Anwar said Budget 2026 would focus on protecting the welfare of the people, strengthening the economy, and building a resilient and inclusive national foundation.

According to the parliamentary schedule, the Supply Bill 2026 will be debated at the policy stage for eight days following today’s tabling. Ministerial replies are scheduled from 29 October to 4 November, with committee-level debates and approvals set from 5 to 27 November.

Meanwhile, in a separate post, the Prime Minister expressed his pride in the Ministry of Finance team for their tireless efforts in preparing the 2026 Budget.

"My deepest appreciation to everyone who worked tirelessly to realise the government's goal of ensuring the welfare of the people and the prosperity of the nation through this document," he said. - October 10, 2025
