THE Kuala Lumpur High Court has postponed the hearing of the civil suit filed by SRC International Sdn Bhd against former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to 6 November, following the hospitalisation of a key witness with Influenza A-related complications.
Counsel for the plaintiffs, Kwan Will Sen, informed the court that Datuk Dr Shamsul Anwar Sulaiman, the former Managing Director of Ihsan Perdana Sdn Bhd, was admitted to a hospital in Shah Alam on Sunday due to heart complications caused by Influenza A.
“A medical notification regarding his condition was submitted to the court on the same day,” Kwan told the court.
In addition, Lim Sze Han, representing the third party, informed the court that another witness, former SRC director Datuk Suboh Md Yassin, was unable to appear in the morning session as he was in Johor and could only attend proceedings in the afternoon.
Presiding judge Datuk Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan, however, criticised the parties for poor planning and inadequate coordination of witness attendance.
“This case was supposed to begin in January but has faced repeated delays. It only got properly underway two months ago,” said the judge.
“If there’s a problem, the witness must still be prepared to appear — even if they are in Hawaii,” he remarked pointedly, adding that the court had limited time due to upcoming proceedings involving 1MDB.
The lawsuit, filed in May 2022 by SRC and its subsidiary Gandingan Mentari Sdn Bhd, seeks to recover RM42 million allegedly misappropriated from the company’s accounts.
Najib is accused of breach of trust, abuse of power, and knowingly receiving misappropriated funds during his tenure, in relation to the broader financial scandal surrounding SRC and 1MDB. - October 13, 2025
