MALAYSIA Airlines has launched an investigation after one of its domestic flights experienced a sudden loss of cabin pressure mid-flight, prompting emergency protocols and leaving passengers shaken.

Flight MH2742, operated by Malaysia Airlines and en route from Kuala Lumpur to Bintulu, Sarawak, encountered the pressurisation issue on the morning of 21 October.

According to a statement from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) issued the same day, the aircraft’s operating crew responded by initiating a controlled descent and deploying oxygen masks in line with standard safety procedures.

The flight subsequently landed safely at Bintulu Airport at 10.31am without further incident.

“There were no safety concerns for passengers or crew at any time,” the airline assured in its statement.

“Malaysia Airlines sincerely apologises for disrupting our passengers’ travel plans.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our highest priority, and we are conducting a thorough review to understand the cause and to prevent recurrence,” the statement added.
