A 78-YEAR-OLD woman was injured after being assaulted and robbed by a man who pretended to ask for a drink at her home in Taman Temerloh Jaya yesterday.
The victim, Rabiah Mat, said the incident occurred around 4.20pm when the man arrived at her home on a motorcycle and asked for a glass of water.
“He came on a motorcycle, greeted me, and asked for some water. I went into the kitchen to get it, and he followed me inside. After taking two sips, he suddenly grabbed my bracelet and pulled hard,” she said.
“He kicked and punched me, then slammed my head against the washing machine until I fell,” Rabiah added, recounting the terrifying ordeal.
The robber also took her grandchild’s mobile phone, which was left in the living room, before fleeing the scene.
“Luckily, my five-year-old grandchild was unharmed,” she said.
Her teenage grandson, Muhammad Nazreeq Miqael Mohd Nazir, 15, said he had just returned from school and was resting when the incident took place.
“I got home around 4pm and fell asleep because I was tired. All the doors were locked, so I didn’t hear anything. I woke up about 4.40pm when I heard my grandmother banging on the door loudly. When I came out, there were already many people outside the house,” he said.
Nazreeq said he lives with his grandmother, while his parents reside in Temerloh Makmur.
Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron confirmed the incident, adding that it is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery causing hurt.
He said the victim suffered losses of about RM1,000 and lodged a police report at the Temerloh District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 8.53pm on the same day.
Rabiah later revealed that the stolen bracelet was not real gold. “It wasn’t real gold, just an imitation bracelet,” she said. - October 24, 2025
