DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that he has not received any resignation notice from the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
The Prime Minister said the UPKO president attended the Cabinet meeting as usual on Friday morning.
“(Ewon) came... came to the Cabinet meeting today,” he said briefly after performing Friday prayers at Surau Al-Quddus, Presint 16.
Ewon had earlier indicated that he was prepared to relinquish his ministerial post if the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) appealed a High Court decision in Kota Kinabalu recognising Sabah’s right to a share of federal revenue from the state.
In his closing speech at the recent UPKO Penampang convention, Ewon stated that he had informed the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, and other ministers of his stance, urging the AGC not to file an appeal.
When asked about reports suggesting that Ewon would resign, Anwar replied simply: “Not yet.”
The High Court in Kota Kinabalu had previously ruled that the Federal Government acted unlawfully and beyond its constitutional powers by failing to honour Sabah’s entitlement to 40 per cent of federal revenue for nearly five decades.
Delivering the judgment, High Court Judge Datuk Celestina Stuel Galid described special allocations between the federal and Sabah governments as “invalid, ultra vires, and irrational,” in violation of the Federal Constitution.
The court found the Second and Third Review Orders issued by both governments to be invalid and granted the application in full by the Sabah Law Association (SLS).
The judicial review had been filed by SLS in 2022. - October 24, 2025
