KUALA LUMPUR – The five new Covid-19 cases in Singapore yesterday were imported, with one of them involving a 23-year-old Malaysian woman, reported The Straits Times.
The woman is a work permit holder who observed a stay-home notice at the Mandarin Orchard, before moving to another facility on December 20.
She had a swab test on December 19 and 21, but results came back negative for Covid-19.
However, another test on December 24 found that she was positive, and she was taken to hospital the next day.
The paper reported that a confirmatory test by the National Public Health Laboratory was also positive.
However, a second sample taken by the lab on Saturday returned negative, and her serological test result was also negative, the republic’s Health Ministry was quoted as saying.
Currently, authorities are investigating 13 previously reported cases of individuals who had observed stay-home notices at the hotel between October 22 and November 11.
It has yet to be determined if the Malaysian woman is linked to the 13 cases.
She is the third person to have tested positive for Covid-19 after serving part of a stay-home notice at Mandarin Orchard, while the other two were announced on Friday and Saturday. – The Vibes, December 28, 2020
