KOTA KINABALU – Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal cares little about Sabahans’ lives, said Tan Sri Musa Aman and his brother, Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, following the caretaker chief minister’s suggestion that Covid-19 patients be allowed to vote in the state polls on Saturday.
“He (Shafie) is willing to put people’s lives in danger because of politics and a greed for power,” former chief minister Musa told residents of Nabawan during a campaign event for Perikatan Nasional candidate Ghani Yassin recently.
Parti Cinta Sabah president Anifah, meanwhile, said Shafie’s proposal last weekend took him by surprise.
He questioned whether the Parti Warisan Sabah head understands what “pandemic” means.
“The current health procedure is to isolate patients (to prevent them) from spreading the deadly and highly contagious virus.
“Is Shafie so desperate that he is willing to gamble the lives of millions of Sabahans over this?” he said, adding that he hopes the Election Commission and health authorities will bar coronavirus patients from voting.
Malaysia has recorded more than 10,500 cases and 130 deaths, with an alarming spike in Sabah in the thick of the state’s election campaign.
Shafie had called on the authorities to ensure health and safety standard operating procedures are in place to allow virus-positive voters to cast their ballots.
The vote was called after the Sabah Legislative Assembly’s dissolution on July 30, following Musa’s claim that he had the numbers to topple Shafie’s government.
The duo, along with Anifah, have been feuding for decades since all three were in the state Umno. – The Vibes, September 24, 2020
