MUSLIM Friendly Watch (MFW) has formally decided to dissolve the organisation in accordance with the law under the Societies Act 1966 (Act 335), following recent public attention on the ‘Muslim Choice’ initiative.
In a statement, MFW confirmed that the dissolution process will be conducted in an orderly manner with the cooperation of the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to ensure full compliance with legal procedures.
The organisation said it accepted the directives issued by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, and the recent statement from the Director-General of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.
MFW also stated that it had immediately and responsibly ceased all operations and systems under its purview. "This step is taken as a sign of obedience to religious authorities and our awareness of the need to safeguard the welfare of the ummah and the reputation of Islam in the country," the statement read.
The group acknowledged that all decisions by the authorities are guided by the interests of religion, societal harmony, and the sensitivities of the Muslim community. "We therefore accept this decision with an open heart, full responsibility, and humility," it added.
MFW issued an apology to the public, particularly religious authorities, government agencies, and any individuals affected by confusion or misunderstanding caused by the organisation’s oversight.
Earlier, Datuk Mohd Na'im directed MFW to withdraw all promotions and recognitions using the term ‘Muslim Choice’, warning that it could mislead Muslim consumers.
Jakim emphasised that the ‘Muslim Choice’ label introduced by MFW does not constitute official halal certification. Datuk Sirajuddin warned that its usage could cause confusion about the halal status of products or establishments. - November 5, 2025
