A TEACHER was shocked after realizing a batik python weighing about 60 kilograms was hiding in the ceiling of the toilet at her home near Taman Bandar Baru PKNK in Sungai Petani recently.

She said her 15-year-old daughter who just got home from school around 4 pm told her that the toilet ceiling was damaged and she was afraid to use it.

“At that time, I was in a meeting and my daughter sent a picture of the ceiling that had fallen. As soon as I got home, I immediately checked the toilet, and through the broken part of the ceiling, spotted something that looked like batik cloth.

"I was surprised how the batik cloth could get on the ceiling before we used the phone camera to zoom in, and the snake's body was clearly visible," she said.

She then contacted the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) for help.

"When the batik python was pulled out and fell from the ceiling, I was shocked because it was so big .. I had never seen a snake that big before.

“I am grateful we realized it early; I could not have imagined that such a big snake had entered the house,” she said.

She said the snake probably crawled in from a durian tree behind the house as she noticed the flowerpots overturned two days before the incident. - November 17, 2025
