THE family of a Taiwanese influencer who was discovered dead in a hotel bathroom on Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur, on 22 October has officially claimed her body, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said authorities are still awaiting the pathology report from the hospital.
“For this case, the police have yet to receive a decision from the Attorney General’s Chambers. There are several additional actions we need to take, including obtaining the pathology report,” he told reporters during the launch of the 2025 Community Welfare Programme ‘Discipline Maintained, Generation Built’ at the HGH Convention Centre today.
He confirmed that police have extended bail for Namewee by 14 days.
“Currently, we have extended bail for the individual concerned (Namewee),” he said. The extension will remain in effect until 10 December.
Previously, media reports noted that Namewee, 42, had surrendered to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters on 5 November and was placed under remand before being released on bail as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of 31-year-old Yun Hsin.
Authorities say Namewee was the last known person reportedly with the deceased.
Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar clarified that Namewee was released due to a lack of concrete evidence linking him directly to the influencer’s death.
“Instructions for further investigations have been issued to the Royal Malaysia Police to gather more information and complete the investigation papers,” he added.
The case remains under close scrutiny as authorities await forensic results and continue to collect information to determine the cause of death, while Namewee remains on extended bail pending the outcome of the inquiry. - November 27, 2025
