MALAYSIA’S fiscal trajectory, ministerial accountability and a suite of social policy challenges are expected to dominate proceedings as the Dewan Rakyat meets today for the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament.
The sitting opens with lawmakers set to scrutinise the government’s economic stewardship.
Syahredzan Johan (PH–Bangi) will press the Prime Minister to set out “the government’s plan to curb new borrowings” and to detail the administration’s approach to debt repayment as part of wider efforts to bring down national indebtedness and narrow the fiscal deficit.
Calls for stronger internal controls are also set to surface. Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN–Masjid Tanah) is seeking clarity on whether Putrajaya intends to introduce internal audits for ministers’ offices, a proposal that follows the Prime Minister’s recent emphasis on heightened oversight within the executive.
Social policy concerns will feature prominently throughout the question session. Wong Chen (PH–Subang) will ask the Home Affairs Minister to provide a timeline and framework for expanding the Refugee Registration Document System so that registered refugees may gain access to education and healthcare via non-governmental organisations or private providers.
Housing pressures remain on the agenda. Aminolhuda Hassan (PH–Sri Gading) will query the Housing and Local Government Minister on why many eligible Malaysians are still unable to secure affordable homes despite frequent project launches, and will seek updates on abandoned developments that continue to trouble first-time buyers.
Infrastructure standards will also come under review. Mohd Nazri Abu Hassan (PN–Merbok) intends to ask the Works Minister about findings from technical studies on Cup Lump Modified Asphalt technology and its potential as a replacement for existing road surfacing materials.
Following the conclusion of oral questions, the Human Resources Minister will table the Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Bill 2025 for consideration.
The meeting is scheduled to run for 35 days and will conclude on Thursday. - December 2, 2025
