FLOODWATERS in Selangor have fully receded following the closure of the last temporary evacuation centre in Kuala Selangor on Monday, while the number of flood victims in Perak continues to decline, authorities reported on Tuesday morning.
In Selangor, the final evacuation centre at Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Pasangan in Kuala Selangor, which sheltered 38 individuals from 12 families, was officially closed at 3 PM on Monday.
Mohd Raiz Radzuan, Chairman of the Kuala Selangor District Disaster Management Committee, confirmed that all evacuees from Kampung Asahan were allowed to return home and that flood conditions across the district have returned to normal.
Since 24 November, a total of 20 evacuation centres had been activated across the district, covering 29 areas affected by flooding.
In Perak, the number of flood victims has fallen slightly to 411 individuals from 122 families currently housed in five evacuation centres across three districts, down from 487 people from 140 families recorded the previous evening.
The Perak State Disaster Management Secretariat announced that Dewan Rumah Rehat MPTI Bandar Baru in Hilir Perak, which previously accommodated 45 people from 10 families, had been fully closed at 8:30 PM on Monday.
The evacuation centre at Dewan Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Bagan Datuk continues to shelter the highest number of flood victims, with 142 individuals from 45 families across eight villages in the district.
In Manjung, 140 people from 40 families remain in two centres, while in Hilir Perak, 129 individuals from 37 families continue to seek refuge in two centres.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued warnings of heavy rain and thunderstorms during the morning in the three districts most severely affected by the floods, urging residents to remain vigilant. - December 9, 2025
