STOP trying to fool the public by blaming the government of the day when one is prosecuted for alleged corruption, said Parti Amanah Nasional vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar.

He singled out Padang Serai MP Datuk Azman Nasrudin for trying to deflect the consequences of his actions to gain sympathy and political mileage.

"Such notions are not only baseless in an age of transparency, it also insults the intelligence of the people. We should fight to clear our name instead of blaming third parties for convenience’s sake."

Charges levelled today, especially against politicians are not like in the dark ages of the previous administrations, said Mahfuz in a statement.

“The case is prosecuted in an open court for all to see.

“But one continues to accuse the government of interference,” said Mahfuz.

Those who subscribe to the belief of government interference are not only delusional, but also doing a disservice to the hard working legal fraternity, who only prosecute if there is evidence to indicate beyond reasonable doubt circumstances.

"The Opposition is not fighting the government. They are simply opposing the facts, logic and history by defying the court system," said Mahfuz.

The image of PN is ruined but it has nothing to do with the government of the day but the politicians themselves.
