Sultan of Selangor calls on Muslims to heed Friday sermon warning against LGBT practices
Amid the normalisation of vice, a social illness has emerged that not only goes against human nature but also invites the wrath of Allah, His Majesty writes - December 13, 2025

THE Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has urged the Muslim community in the state to take seriously the message delivered in Friday sermons, which highlighted concerns about the promotion and normalisation of LGBT practices.

In a statement posted on social media, His Majesty referred to the sermon, titled "LGBT: Inviting Calamity, Stripping Away Blessings," noting that such behaviour runs contrary to human nature and invites the displeasure of Allah SWT.

"Amid the normalisation of vice, a social illness has emerged that not only goes against human nature but also invites the wrath of Allah," he wrote, drawing attention to the moral and spiritual consequences of engaging in such acts.

Sultan Sharafuddin expressed concern that LGBT practices are increasingly portrayed as expressions of "rights," "freedom," or "identity," while Islam considers them sinful and a deviation from the natural order, citing the story of the people of Prophet Luth as guidance.

"It is deeply saddening that what Allah has deemed vile and transgressive is now being celebrated as freedom," he added, emphasising that these acts defy both Islamic law and reason. "Only a corrupted and afflicted soul would be willing to engage in such behaviour."

Echoing the sermon’s warning, the Sultan called on those practising LGBT behaviours to repent and return to the path of righteousness. "Remember, the door of repentance remains wide open for those who sincerely wish to return to their true nature," he said.

He further cautioned that persisting in such behaviour carries broader consequences, affecting not only the individual but also their families and the wider community.

"Do not allow yourselves to drift further into sin — sins that not only violate human nature, but also bring harm to oneself, one's family, and society," His Majesty concluded, urging reflection and moral vigilance. - December 13, 2025
