MIC is still a component of Barisan Nasional (BN) because the party's Central Working Committee (CWC) has not finalised any decision on collaborating with other parties.

Its deputy president, Datuk Seri M Saravanan, said that currently the MIC CWC has not met to determine the party's direction.

"So far, MIC is still with BN until a decision is made at the CWC level. We are still a component party," he told reporters.

He said this after presenting laptops to 50 students of Higher Education Institutions (IPT) at the Tapah MIC Division Office on Sunday. Asked about the statement by BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that component parties that leave the coalition would not be readmitted, Saravanan fully supported the matter.

"What (Ahmad Zahid) said is true. Any party that leaves BN should do it for good and not want to return in future.

"I also agree with him," said the Member of Parliament for Tapah.

On the development of MIC's participation in Perikatan Nasional (PN), Saravanan explained that no decision has been made on the matter. – December 14, 2025
