IMPLEMENTATION of rural development programmes and expenditure under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has achieved around 95 per cent completion, with some initiatives exceeding 97 per cent, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced today.
Speaking after chairing the 60th Coordination Meeting Between the Ministry and State Rural Development Executive Councillors (MEXCBLUB), in Ipoh today, Zahid, who also serves as Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said the high level of achievement demonstrates the ministry’s strong commitment, supported by close cooperation with state governments to ensure the effectiveness of rural policies and programmes.
“The determining factor we introduced in this approach shows that 42 initiatives recorded achievements exceeding 97 per cent.
“This proves that commitment is not only required at the ministerial level but also from the state executive councils, which is extremely important,” he told reporters.
He explained that the reported completion rates encompass all programmes and initiatives under the ministry’s portfolio, which are closely monitored in collaboration with state authorities to ensure accountability and efficiency.
Zahid also revealed that the meeting approved the nationwide adoption of the e-Penghulu (village-head) system, a digital platform pioneered in Perak, which will be rolled out to all penghulu offices across the country.
The move aims to enhance administrative efficiency and modernise service delivery in rural areas.
The announcement reflects the government’s continued focus on accelerating rural development, strengthening intergovernmental collaboration, and leveraging digital tools to improve governance and public service delivery in Malaysia’s rural communities. - December 16, 2025
