PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Government Madani Cabinet reshuffle was formalised this morning as seven newly appointed ministers and eight deputy ministers took their oaths of office before the Yang di‑Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, at Istana Negara.
The changes follow recent vacancies and strategic portfolio adjustments in the Unity Government.
Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, revealed the latest appointments and portfolio changes yesterday, outlining a recalibration of the federal executive to better serve national priorities.
Among the key movements is the appointment of Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, formerly Minister of Plantation and Commodities, as the new Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry. Hannah Yeoh, until recently Minister of Youth and Sports, has been appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Federal Territories.
The reshuffle also saw several deputies assume greater responsibilities, including six deputy ministers and one new full minister. Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir has been elevated to Minister of Economy. Meanwhile, Sungai Petani Member of Parliament Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari has been appointed the new Minister of Youth and Sports.
Cabinet members and those whose portfolios were adjusted expressed their dedication to fulfilling their roles with commitment and integrity.
Datuk Seri R Ramanan, appointed Minister of Human Resources, described his new position as “a major responsibility to ensure that the national workforce development agenda is strengthened in a comprehensive, inclusive and competitive manner in line with Malaysia Madani aspirations.”
He added, “I would like to express my highest appreciation and gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the trust placed in me to shoulder the responsibility as Human Resources Minister.
“I also represent the Indian community in this country in expressing ‘nandri’ (thank you) to him for granting this honour and mandate to serve as Human Resources Minister.”
Sim Tze Tzin, the newly appointed Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, pledged to support his minister, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, in advancing the nation’s investment, trade and industrial agenda.
“I wish to express my highest appreciation and gratitude for the trust of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PKR in me,” he said, adding thanks to his constituents: “I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all Bayan Baru voters for the trust placed in me over four terms — one term as the Pantai Jerejak assemblyman and three terms as the Bayan Baru MP.”
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, who has moved from her role as Deputy Economic Affairs Minister, expressed her gratitude for the continued confidence in her abilities.
She affirmed her commitment to serving “to the best of her ability for the wellbeing of the people and the nation, in line with the aspirations of the Madani Government, which emphasises the principles of justice, sustainability and holistic wellbeing.”
Newly appointed Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol said he will strive to fulfil his assigned responsibilities “to the best of his ability in the interests of youth and national sports development.”
He noted that his initial focus will be on understanding “the ministry’s roles and needs while supporting ongoing efforts in youth and sports development, particularly at the grassroots level,” adding, “As an MP, I am aware of my limitations and the need to continue learning.
“My experience as an elected representative, especially in rural constituencies, will serve as guidance in contributing progressively and grounded in on‑the‑ground realities.” - December 17, 2025
