KUALA LUMPUR – Air Selangor expects to see emergency repair works on a pipe damaged by a landslide in Damansara Utama to be completed just before dawn tomorrow.
In a statement, its corporate communications chief Elina Baseri said that the team began repair efforts last night and will require about 30 hours to complete the task.
This means that the work should be completed by 6am tomorrow, and full supply restored by early Friday evening.
“Users will receive water supply in stages after the repair works have been completed and we expect everything to return to normal by 6pm on January 1,” she said.
“Air Selangor will assist those who have been affected by deploying our water tanks to areas experiencing water disruption, especially critical premises, such as hospitals and dialysis centres.”
She said consumers can also get alternative water supply through Air Selangor’s local service centres, which began operating at 8am today.
Yesterday evening, the pipe that is 1m in diameter was damaged due to a landslide. In an earlier incident yesterday, a burst main pipe was detected at Persiaran Tengku Ampuan in Section 15, Shah Alam.
“Air Selangor advises our users to follow the CMCO SOPs when taking water from the tanks and service centres,” Elina added.
