A YOUNG woman’s rest was violently interrupted yesterday morning when an intruder allegedly trespassed into her high-rise residence and molested her.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 8.50 am, involved a 21-year-old victim who woke up to find a 24-year-old man pinning her down and molesting her inside her own bedroom.

According to sources, the victim was jolted awake by the weight of the suspect and immediately began screaming upon realising a stranger had entered her private space.

In a panicked attempt to justify his presence, the man reportedly claimed he had entered the wrong room by mistake.

The victim promptly contacted her housing agent to report the intrusion before alerting the police to the scene.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the arrest of the suspect following a formal report lodged at 11.20 am yesterday.

He noted that the individual, an employee at a video game outlet, was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Polis received a report at 11.20 am yesterday against the suspect who committed an act of molestation against a woman at a residence in Cheras, Datuk Fadil Marsus stated.

When detained, the suspect was under the influence of alcohol where he worked at a video game shop.

The police chief further clarified that the suspect had originally been visiting a friend’s unit in the same building before the alleged trespass took place.

The suspect is remanded for four days starting today until January 5 to assist in investigations, he said in a statement today. Investigation found that the suspect came to his friend's house during the incident before being arrested for molesting the victim.

Authorities are currently investigating the matter under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty.
