A MAN died after being shot in front of a car wash in Jalan Besar Permatang Keling in Nibong Tebal, last night.

The victim was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The 38-year-old local man was said to have been approached by two men on a motorbike at about 10.20pm before a suspect fired six shots at close range.

The victim, who was seriously injured in several parts of his body, was sent to the Parit Buntar Hospital, Perak, for further treatment, before being referred to the Taiping Hospital and confirmed dead at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail, confirmed the incident.

“The Penang Contingent Headquarters (IPK) will issue an official statement regarding the incident shortly,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – January 17, 2026
