TWO people lost their lives in a three-vehicle collision on the Federal Highway at kilometre 11.9 early yesterday morning, police confirmed.
Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol, said investigations revealed the accident occurred at approximately 4.20 a.m. involving a Mercedes driven by a 31-year-old man and three pedestrians who were in the middle of the highway heading towards Klang.
“Investigations indicate the crash was triggered by an earlier collision involving a Honda HRV driven by a man in his 50s, with a female passenger also in her early 50s. The Honda HRV struck the rear of a Proton Suprima driven by a man in his 20s in the far-right lane,” Ramsay explained.
“All three then exited their vehicles and were standing in the lane between the two cars when a Mercedes, driven by another man, failed to avoid them and collided with the Proton Suprima and the three individuals,” he added.
The accident resulted in the deaths of the Honda HRV driver and his passenger at the scene. The drivers of the Proton Suprima and Mercedes sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Shah Alam Hospital.
“The cause of death was identified as head and bodily injuries sustained in the crash,” Ramsay said. He also clarified that contrary to circulating reports, the two victims were not a married couple but friends.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting Inspector Muhammad Najib Abdul Rahman at the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 019-7757354.
“Members of the public are also advised not to stand on the road, especially in the fast lane, and to seek a safe location to stop in the event of an accident on highways or major roads,” he advised. -January 21, 2026
