THREE fugitives, wanted as high-profile members of the notorious “Captain Praba” gang, arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport early Wednesday morning under tight security, following extradition from India.
The trio, all on Interpol’s Red Notice list, were detained at Mumbai’s airport last Sunday after reportedly displaying aggression and violent behaviour upon arrival.
Their capture follows deportation from the United Kingdom, where immigration officers at Manchester Airport had identified them as dangerous criminals and refused them entry, forcing their return to Mumbai.
Police sources said the suspects’ volatile behaviour was driven by desperation as they realised they could no longer evade Malaysian authorities.
The men, believed to be in their 30s, are central targets of “Ops Jack Sparrow,” a major operation conducted by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department to dismantle the organised crime syndicate.
The gang, reportedly led by a suspect known as “Captain Praba,” is alleged to be responsible for a string of violent offences, including murder, armed assault, gang robbery, and arson.
Last September, authorities arrested 17 other members of the group in a coordinated, multi-state operation.
Upon landing at KLIA at approximately 7am, the suspects were escorted directly to the Sepang district police headquarters and are expected to be presented at the Sepang Magistrate’s Court for a remand application.
They are being held under the strictest security measures due to the inherent risks linked to their arrest. - January 28, 2026
