Authorities confirm that all injured parties were promptly taken to hospital for treatment - January 28, 2026

TEN detainees were injured after the prison transport vehicle, commonly known as a Black Maria, in which they were travelling lost control and overturned at a traffic-light junction along Jalan Seremban–Tampin near Rembau town on Tuesday.

Rembau Deputy District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Azmi Ali said the incident occurred at about 9.40am while the vehicle was en route from Seremban Prison to Rembau Court.

The detainees, accompanied by five escorting officers and supported by a multi-purpose vehicle, were travelling to court to have detention warrants activated.

“However, while turning right at the junction, the vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in injuries to four detainees, while six others sustained minor injuries,” he said.

Azmi said all injured detainees were transported to Rembau Hospital by ambulance for further treatment, accompanied by two escorting officers and an escort vehicle.

He added that following the incident, personnel from the escort guard unit and the traffic division of the Rembau district police headquarters were deployed to the scene to provide immediate assistance and manage the situation. - January 28, 2026
