DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim warned that he would take stern action against any party that disrupts security while the country is being visited by guests today.
The Prime Minister said that he had given strict instructions to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to take such action at a Cabinet meeting yesterday, in addition to sending a message to Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
"If you want to give your views and criticisms, that's fine. In this country, it's free, but if you disrupt national security and try to betray, complicate the situation when there are guests of our country, believe me, I will take stern action, arrest, and imprison them.
"Don't incite hatred towards each other. Don't violate the principles of the law. You are not a judge or the police chief. You want to take over the duties of the police chief; we will arrest and imprison you.
"Trust me, if you want to try, try today and see," he said in his speech at the Selangor PKR Convention today.
Anwar also asked participants of the rally against ‘illegal’ houses of worship not to take over the role of the authorities, while also calling on them not to exploit sensitive issues to the point of affecting inter-racial relations.
The Tambun MP also stated his stance against the construction of houses of worship without following the law, stressing that the regulations apply to everyone.
"If we break the rules, the result will be hatred, and the problem will not be solved," Anwar said.
Earlier, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said police would not allow the organisers to continue the rally in front of the Sogo shopping complex.
According to him, the decision was made following security intelligence and feedback from parties involved, including premises owners around the location.
However, controversial independent speaker and coordinator of the rally, Zamri Vinoth, on Friday night, insisted that the rally would continue.
Earlier, the Home Ministry (KDN) said that the police would meet with the organisers to ask them to cancel the rally since Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit for two days starting today. – February 7, 2026
