SIXTEEN Members of Parliament from Bersatu have formally urged Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to resign from his position as party president, citing concerns over his ability to unify the party and lead it to electoral success.
The group of MPs includes Zikri Hassan (Kangar), Datuk Dr Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail (Kubang Pasu), Roslan Hashim (Kulim-Bandar Baharu), Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (Ketereh), Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang), Datuk Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu), Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Tasek Gelugor), Fathul Huzir Ayob (Gerik), Azahari Hassan (Padang Rengas), Nordin Ahmad Ismail (Lumut), Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota), Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah (Rompin), Kalam Salan (Sabak Bernam), Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (Sungai Besar) and Islahuddin Abas (Mersing).
In a joint statement signed by all sixteen MPs, they expressed support for BERSATU’s Deputy President, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, who previously called for Muhyiddin to relinquish the party’s top post.
“Without denying the contributions and service of Tan Sri Muhyiddin in the past, the reality is that he is no longer able to unite the party or lead it towards victory.
“We are confident that Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin is capable of serving as acting President, restoring BERSATU’s agenda for the people and the nation, and reuniting the party to secure electoral success,” the statement said.
Earlier reports on Wednesday highlighted that Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee became the first senior party leader to publicly demand Muhyiddin step down. Ronald described the move as necessary to restore and rebuild BERSATU’s strength, including strengthening strategic alliances within Perikatan Nasional.
He also criticised the party’s Disciplinary Board for summoning Deputy President Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin over both historical and recent allegations, calling the action “regressive” and at odds with efforts to consolidate the party ahead of upcoming elections.
Ronald, who also serves as BERSATU Sabah chairman, added that Muhyiddin’s failure to effectively unify the party has allowed divisions to persist to a level that he described as nearly irreparable. - February 13, 2026
