IN a heart-wrenching revelation, a young man has shared his grief following the tragic loss of his mother, a victim of a gruesome murder and dismemberment.
The son, who claims to be the child of the deceased woman, announced that his mother’s remains have been laid to rest, albeit in an incomplete state, as some parts of her body are still missing.
During a live stream on TikTok, he expressed his gratitude for the police and forensic teams who assisted in locating his mother’s body.
"I am thankful that Mama has been buried safely. If it weren't for the help of the police and forensics, it would have been difficult to find her," he said on Friday night.
He further explained that while some body parts were recovered, there were still missing pieces at the time of the burial.
"They found some, but not all; Mama's left leg and right arm are still missing," he added, his voice trembling with emotion.
The young man recounted the troubling circumstances surrounding his mother’s death, linking it to her former fiancé, with whom she had a tumultuous relationship marked by frequent arguments over engagement money.
"Initially, my mother was engaged to him. During those two to three months, they often fought. It was normal for couples, but eventually, my mother decided she didn’t want to continue the relationship," he explained.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning when the mutilated body of a 44-year-old woman was discovered discarded at a dumpsite in Taman Indah Permai, Sepangar.
Workers cleaning the area stumbled upon the remains around 7am. Following this grim discovery, two suspects were apprehended, including the primary suspect, a 71-year-old man identified as the victim’s former fiancé.
The case is currently being investigated as a murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
During his emotional live stream, the son revealed how he began to suspect the dismembered body parts circulating on social media belonged to his mother.
He had not heard from her since she left home on Wednesday to meet a friend in Kota Kinabalu.
"On Thursday morning, I went to work, and my employer informed me about a murder case trending in Taman Indah Permai. I asked if the victim was a man or a woman and was told it was a woman. I saw a photo of a leg that was circulating but initially did not think it was my mother’s," he recounted.
However, by 11:30am, after returning from work, his brother showed him a picture of a hand that had also been shared online, leading him to believe that it indeed belonged to her.
"I saw the photo on ‘Story,’ and that hand looked just like my mother’s. I immediately went to my employer and asked him to look at the picture.
“I told him I was certain it was my mother’s hand," he said.
They began searching for her from around 11am until approximately 5pm, when they received a call from the police asking them to come in for identification.
Upon confirming the worst fears, he shared, "When I found out, my world felt shattered. I was extremely unsettled and very angry at the person who did this."
The police inquired whether the family suspected anyone, to which they pointed to the former fiancé. Investigations revealed the suspect had a previous record, and upon searching his home, police found a significant amount of blood and personal items belonging to the victim.
The suspect was later arrested at a hospital while seeking treatment for a heart condition, leading to the apprehension of his son as well.
The son described the events leading up to his mother’s disappearance, stating that she had attended a gathering on Tuesday before leaving home again in the afternoon to meet someone for unspecified reasons.
"Between 5 and 6pm, she became unreachable. Her phone was off, which was unusual for her. My brother stayed up all night trying to contact her," he said.
The family’s worst fears materialized the next day when news broke about the discovery of a woman’s body.
“I recognised my mother’s hand. It was definitely hers," he said. Following the identification, the police took immediate action against the former fiancé, leading to the investigation's rapid progress.
Describing the burial process, he noted that despite the incomplete state of his mother’s remains, the family chose to proceed with the burial out of respect for her memory.
"We accepted it and are grateful that Mama has finally been laid to rest," he concluded, reflecting the profound sorrow and resilience felt by the family. - February 14, 2026
