TWO people were found dead after their vehicle was completely engulfed in flames following a collision with a luxury sport utility vehicle on Jalan Industri near a petrol station in Taman Tualang Indah, Mentakab, early on Saturday morning.

Zulfadli Zakaria, Public Relations Officer for the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, confirmed that the victims, a man and a woman, were travelling in a Proton Preve which was entirely destroyed by the fire.

He explained that the occupants of the Porsche Cayenne involved in the crash sustained minor injuries, with the driver reportedly unhurt.

“The passenger of the Porsche Cayenne was injured and received initial treatment from medical personnel at the scene,” he said.

The emergency call was received by the Mentakab Fire and Rescue Station at 12.57 a.m., prompting a team of firefighters and equipment to rush to the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found that the collision involved two vehicles, a Proton Preve and a Porsche Cayenne,” Zulfadli said.

The fire team proceeded to extinguish the flames using hoses from the fire engine’s water tank.

“Once the fire was fully put out, rescue personnel employed hydraulic tools to cut open the car’s structure to recover the victims’ bodies,” he added.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the early morning crash, which has left the local community shaken. - February 14, 2026
