THE Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme has injected RM3.87 billion into the national economy up to the end of 2025, underscoring the growing appeal of the country as a preferred destination for long-term foreign residency.
The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry marked this milestone with a programme appreciation event held last night, bringing together licensed operating companies, government agencies and private-sector partners.
Since the rollout of the revised MM2H policy in June 2024, a total of 14,535 applications have been received, comprising 5,239 principal applicants and 9,296 dependents.
China leads the influx of participants with 7,600 applications, followed by Taiwan with 2,419 and Hong Kong with 604, while Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom also show strong interest.
“The economic contribution amounting to RM3.87 billion includes the collection of participation fees, fixed deposits in local banking institutions, as well as property investments, which have now reached RM1.5 billion,” the ministry said in a statement.
Property investment figures are expected to increase by a further RM2.3 billion as more participants complete home purchases in Malaysia.
At the ceremony, the ministry conferred special recognition on five companies for outstanding performance, including Ecoworks Solutions (MM2H) Sdn Bhd, which received the Gold Award.
The ministry highlighted efforts to streamline the programme, including the digitisation of the application process via an online platform and the launch of a dedicated promotional website.
Strategic partnerships, such as a memorandum of understanding with the Bank of China, are also planned to enhance programme delivery.
The ministry urged licensed operators that have yet to register applications to actively promote the programme internationally.
It emphasised that cooperation with agencies including the Immigration Department, law enforcement, banking, and property sectors remains essential to position Malaysia as the world’s safest and most attractive “second home” destination.
“These initiatives align with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani to build a prosperous, progressive and resilient nation,” the ministry said, underlining the programme’s role in strengthening both economic growth and international engagement. - February 14, 2026
