PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has alleged that its official Facebook page was compromised on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the publication of unauthorised content attacking the party and its leadership.
Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said several legitimate administrators of the page had their access removed without authorisation, enabling the intrusion.
He stressed that material uploaded following the breach was not legitimate and did not reflect the party’s official position.
“The party has identified an individual believed to be involved in the act, namely one of the page administrators who has links to a Bersatu leader who was removed from his position yesterday.
“Bersatu views this matter seriously as it involves digital access intrusion and the misuse of the party’s official communication platform, which can mislead members and the general public,” he said in a statement posted on his social media account today.
Tun Faisal said the party has lodged a formal report with Facebook’s parent company, Meta, seeking the immediate restoration of control over the official page.
“In addition, a complaint has been submitted to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and a police report has also been lodged for criminal investigation.
“This action is believed to involve criminal offences under several laws, including the Computer Crimes Act 1997 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, particularly Section 233 concerning the improper use of network facilities or services,” he said.
Bersatu said it would leave the matter entirely to the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take firm action against any individuals found responsible.
The party assured members and the public that measures are being taken to regain control of the official page and to strengthen its digital security framework.
Members of the public have been advised not to be influenced by any suspicious postings and to await official statements issued through the party’s authorised communication channels. - February 14, 2026
