GABUNGAN Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has brushed aside speculation that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee is poised to join the state-based coalition, describing the claims as premature and unsubstantiated.
GRS deputy secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said no formal discussions have taken place at coalition level concerning any such move.
“I view the matter as mere speculation and perhaps only an assumption because it is still too early.
“As a senior politician, I do not think Datuk Seri Ronald would make a decision to join any party in the near future,” he told reporters after officiating the opening of the Burger King Benoni Drive-Thru in Papar on Sunday.
Armizan, however, stressed that he was not speaking on behalf of the individual component parties within GRS despite holding the post of deputy secretary-general.
“This matter has never been discussed, let alone representing any party such as Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat), Parti Liberal Demokratik (LDP) or Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Sabah Bersatu (USNO),” he said.
The remarks come amid heightened political manoeuvring in Sabah, with rumours circulating over potential realignments involving prominent federal and state leaders. - February 15, 2025
