TWENTY-SIX residents from 10 families were evacuated to a mosque in Manjoi after flash floods inundated homes in Kampung Manjoi and Kampung Tengku Hussein following nearly two hours of heavy rain on Monday night.
A spokesperson for the Kinta District Civil Defence Force Operations Control Centre said nine families comprising 22 people were affected in Kampung Manjoi, while a further family of four was displaced in Kampung Tengku Hussein.
“However, no temporary relief centre has been opened so far, as the number of victims is small and the flood situation remains under control.
“All victims are currently sheltered at the Al-Ghufron Mosque as a precaution while waiting for the floodwaters to fully recede,” the spokesperson said.
Authorities said they would continue to monitor water levels closely and act swiftly should conditions deteriorate or a formal relief centre become necessary.
Flash floods struck several parts of Ipoh, including the city centre, Tawas and Kepayang in Manjoi, after sustained heavy rainfall overwhelmed local drainage systems. - February 17, 2026
