GEORGE TOWN – The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) kick-started the new year by encouraging the public to take on urban farming and grow their own food.
CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader today said that being able to grow one's own food not only helps cut down on expenses, but will also increase sustainability and resilience of the environment.
He added that urban farming can also be a family activity and will encourage younger generations with hands-on experience to grow their own food and plants.
“Urban farming can be easily done anywhere, whether you live in an apartment or on a landed property; all that matters is when you are going to take the initiative (to start urban farming),” he told reporters after launching the “Grow With CAP 2021” campaign here today.
The month-long campaign also calls on the public to grow their plants by using green and creative ways to reuse waste, as well as to showcase their efforts on social media by using the hashtag #GrowWithCAP2021. – Bernama, January 1, 2021
