RAPPER, director, and controversial entertainer Namewee, whose legal name is Wee Meng Chee, will submit representations to challenge two pending drug possession charges against him, his lawyer announced in the magistrates’ court today.
Represented by Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor, Namewee is set to provide the court with formal submissions regarding allegations of possessing methamphetamine and sildenafil within a week.
"Accordingly, I request that the court fix a date for the prosecution to respond to the representation," Nur Aminahtul told Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim during the case mention. The court has set April 8 for a decision on the representation.
The charges stem from an incident on October 22, 2025, in a hotel room on Jalan Conlay, where Namewee was accused of possessing 1.57 grams of methamphetamine. This charge falls under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carrying a maximum penalty under Section 12(3) of a fine up to RM100,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both, if convicted.
He is also facing a second charge for possession of 0.78 grams of sildenafil, a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction, under Section 9(1) of the Poisons Act, which allows for a fine of up to RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to five years, or both.
Namewee, 43, previously pleaded not guilty to both charges. In a separate magistrates’ court ruling, he was acquitted of a charge for allegedly ingesting drugs. He was initially detained by police at the hotel in October last year and is also being investigated in connection with the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin.
The prosecution in today’s proceedings was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal. The court will review the representations submitted by Namewee’s legal team before deciding the next steps in the case. - March 5, 2026
