A MORNING confrontation on Jalan Keretapi Lama in Kapar, North Klang, which involved gunfire and a vehicle collision, resulted in the death of one of two motorcycle-riding suspects, believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding.
Police have launched further investigations to determine if other motives were involved.
North Klang Police Chief Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said authorities require additional time to establish the precise motive behind the incident.
"At present, the police have recorded statements from five individuals to assist the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Their testimony is vital in enabling the police to ascertain the motive and cause of this incident," he stated.
He added that authorities may summon other witnesses who possess relevant information to aid in the investigation.
One of the suspects, who was riding a motorcycle and collided with a four-wheel-drive Toyota Hilux, is reported to be in stable condition and is receiving treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) Klang.
The incident unfolded when the two Yamaha Y15 motorcyclists allegedly fired shots at an employee in Kampung Perepat, Kapar.
A vehicle driver, who is also the employer of the targeted individual, pursued the suspects along Jalan Keretapi Lama.
When one of the suspects brandished an object resembling a pistol, the driver rammed the motorcycle, causing both riders to fall and be dragged at the junction leading into Taman Sri Kapar.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar previously confirmed that the deceased suspect had 23 previous criminal records, including murder, attempted murder, and gang robbery, while his companion had 10 prior criminal convictions and was a wanted individual under Section 130V of the Penal Code.
The 49-year-old driver involved in the collision has also been detained for further investigation.
Police records indicate that he has a prior criminal history related to drugs and offences under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code. - March 7, 2026
