A 25-YEAR-OLD soldier lost his life after the car he was driving was struck by a lorry along Jalan Lendu in Kampung Lendu, Alor Gajah, this morning.

The fatal incident occurred at around 10.00 am, involving the soldier’s Perodua Myvi and a 10-tonne lorry.

Deputy Fire Officer Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid, speaking on behalf of the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department, said emergency services received the alert at 10.10 am and dispatched a team of eight personnel, including two from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, along with a fire engine to the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found the male victim trapped in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. He was successfully extricated before being pronounced dead by the Ministry of Health personnel.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action, and our team carried out a site clearance," he said.

The rescue operation was assisted by members of the Alor Gajah Civil Defence Force in addition to the police.

Several videos circulating online reportedly captured the moment of collision, including footage from the vehicle’s dashboard showing the car crashing into the lorry and tumbling down a slope. - March 7, 2026
