A COLLEGE student was killed after sustaining severe injuries believed to have been caused by a sickle blade to the neck in Teluk Intan today.
Hilir Perak district police chief ACP Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the 18-year-old male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another victim, aged 17, also the victim’s college mate, sustained injuries to his hand and is receiving further treatment.
“Preliminary investigations found that the incident is believed to have occurred when a long-handled sickle carried by a man riding a motorcycle struck the victim’s neck while the victim was also riding a motorcycle.
“The motorcycle ridden by the victim and the one ridden by the man carrying the sickle were travelling close to each other on the road.
“The victim fell onto the road after being struck by the sickle,” he said in a statement last night.
He said following the incident, police detained two foreign men, aged 39 and 52, to assist in the investigation, and also seized a sickle and a motorcycle.
“Both suspects will be brought to the Teluk Intan Magistrate’s Court for a remand application to assist further investigations,” he said. – March 10, 2026
