SELANGOR police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing into a series of criminal threats and acts of sabotage targeting activist S. Chandrasegaran, better known as Cikgu Chandra, at his residence in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, but declined to provide further details at this stage.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said during a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters on Wednesday that the case remains under active investigation.
“From the updates I have been briefed on, there are several positive leads in both cases. However, I cannot share further details as the investigation is still ongoing,” he said.
He assured the public that the police will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses, adding that a report was filed promptly and initial measures have been taken to identify those involved.
“Police assure that the investigation is conducted transparently and fairly, without any elements of persecution,” Shazeli said.
The police have opened investigations under Sections 427, 506, and 435 of the Penal Code following two separate reports linked to the incidents.
In a separate statement, Shazeli warned the public against speculation or provocative behaviour, particularly concerning sensitive issues of religion, race, and the monarchy.
“The current climate involving religious and racial matters needs to be controlled to prevent the situation from worsening. I call on the public to work with the Royal Malaysian Police to manage and de-escalate the situation.
“Media colleagues are also encouraged to help lower the intensity of these 3R-related issues,” he said.
Cikgu Chandra, 47, said that the most recent incident was not the first attack on him, citing a previous assault by unidentified individuals in 2022.
The latest events prompted heightened security at his home after masked intruders armed with machetes allegedly broke into his property around 3.30 pm while he was at home with his two children.
According to Chandra, two men are believed to have forced open the gate, smashed the rear window of his Perodua Viva, and damaged the front iron grilles of his residence.
The harassment escalated in the early hours of the following day when a group reportedly returned around 3.20 am, throwing petrol bombs at his home.
The resulting fire destroyed his Suzuki Ertiga and caused damage to two other vehicles, including his Perodua Viva.
The activist emphasised that the repeated attacks have caused significant distress for his family, underlining the need for law enforcement intervention and public awareness. - March 11, 2026
