GRIEF and outrage continue to grip families in Tangkak following two separate fatal stabbings within days, leaving the local community in shock and demanding swift action from authorities.
The family of Tong Wei Sheng, 38, who was fatally attacked by three masked men wielding parang in Bukit Kangkar, Sungai Mati last Friday, expressed deep sorrow and frustration.
“The anger and pain in our hearts are still hard to erase… we will not find peace until the suspects are caught,” said a family member, requesting anonymity.
Tong Wei Sheng succumbed to his injuries at Tangkak Hospital and was cremated this morning at Tangkak Public Crematorium.
The family revealed they had been approached by individuals posing as officials, urging them to withdraw the case.
“Their behaviour is utterly disrespectful while we are still mourning. We condemn them for acting without fear of the law. They tried to pressure us and manipulate the case,” the family said, appealing to police for a thorough investigation.
Investigators reported that Tong Wei Sheng sustained 24 stab wounds across his body, including ten on his right leg, injuries to his left leg and hand, and three fingers on his left hand were nearly severed.
“He suffered massive bleeding that led to his death,” the family added. Police are actively pursuing the three suspects.
In a separate incident, a 51-year-old Vietnamese woman was found dead this morning at a factory in Tangkak after being stabbed in the neck, allegedly by a 55-year-old compatriot.
Sources said the two women were initially conversing at the workplace when the attack occurred around 10 a.m.
“Suddenly, the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck. She fell and was confirmed dead,” said an eyewitness.
The suspect reportedly attempted to injure herself by slashing her neck and arms and was rushed to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF) Muar, where she remains in intensive care.
The attack was captured on the factory’s CCTV system.
Tangkak District Police Chief Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib confirmed the incident and stated a formal statement would be issued soon.
The two fatalities mark the second murder in Tangkak in four days, following Tong Wei Sheng’s death last Friday. - March 16, 2026
