HIS Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim said he would select a new Chief Commissioner to lead the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), stressing that there was no need for any party to politicise the matter.

Sultan Ibrahim said that the position was very important in ensuring that the MACC continued to play an effective role as the country's main institution in combating corruption, malpractice and abuse of power.

"I will determine who the best candidate is to lead the MACC from now on," His Majesty told the Royal Press Office (RPO) today.

He said Anwar informed him of this during a meeting about a month ago.
