STUDENTS allegedly involved in a bullying incident at a MARA Junior Science College (MRSM), where a victim’s clothing was cut and damaged, have been identified, with disciplinary action including possible expulsion under consideration.
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the management of the institution concerned had submitted a report and that investigations were expedited following public attention to the case.
"The victim’s family has lodged a report and the perpetrators have also been identified. After I made an announcement on social media regarding the issue, the management immediately submitted a report.
"There were matters that were not reported to me by the MRSM management, but the lesson learned is that every issue must be taken seriously,” he told reporters after officiating the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Excellence Awards ceremony at MRSM Tun Ghafar Baba in Jasin today.
He stressed that those responsible would not be spared from severe disciplinary measures, including expulsion, depending on the gravity of the offence, noting that bullying encompasses not only physical harm but also psychological abuse with lasting impact on victims.
The incident came to light after a user on Threads shared images showing the torn and damaged clothing of their younger sibling, a Form One student at an MRSM, alleging that the damage was the result of bullying. Several personal belongings were also reportedly destroyed.
The post prompted a response from Asyraf Wajdi, who reiterated that there would be no compromise on any form of bullying within institutions under MARA’s supervision and that firm action would be taken against those involved. - April 25, 2026
