THEIR Majesties Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia and Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah have conveyed Mother’s Day greetings to all mothers across the country, paying tribute to their pivotal role as the first educators, protectors and shapers of character in society.

In a royal statement, Sultan Ibrahim said mothers serve as the first teachers in life, instilling values that shape the moral foundation and future of the nation.

He emphasised that the role of a mother extends beyond caregiving, encompassing the nurturing of identity, compassion, resilience and self-sacrifice.

“A mother is the first teacher, protector and character-builder of humankind who will shape the future of the nation. From them, we learn the values of compassion, perseverance and the meaning of sacrifice,” His Majesty said.

He further reminded the public that, as emphasised in religious teachings, filial piety and devotion to one’s parents are key to attaining blessings in both this world and the hereafter.

Sultan Ibrahim also expressed deep appreciation for Raja Zarith Sofiah, acknowledging her sincerity and dedication in raising their children with unwavering love and care.

The royal couple also called on the people to continue praying for their late mothers who have passed on before them.

“May Allah SWT always bless our late mothers, Enche’ Besar Hajah Khalsom Abdullah and Raja Perempuan Muzwin. Al-Fatihah,” His Majesty said. - May 10, 2026
