THREE people were killed and another seriously injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a cement lorry along the Karak Highway near Kampung Sungai Chinchin in the early hours of Friday morning.

Assistant director of operations for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, said emergency services received a distress call regarding the collision at approximately 2.07am.

A rescue team from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“The accident involved a Volkswagen car which crashed into the rear section of a cement lorry.

“There were four victims trapped inside the vehicle. A 27-year-old woman sustained serious head injuries and a fractured left leg, while three male victims in their twenties were confirmed dead,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Rescuers worked to extricate all victims from the severely damaged vehicle before handing them over to personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia for further action.

Authorities said the emergency response operation was brought under control at approximately 3.15am.

The identities of the deceased have yet to be officially released as investigations into the cause of the collision continue. - May 22, 2026
